How to update your SE-700 from firmware v0.9.9.2

Here are the steps to update your unit to the latest firmware and enable USB updates.

You will want to first confirm that you have version 0.9.9.2 and not 1.0.0.0, some units with a 0.9.9.2 sticker are actually version 1.0.0.0, so please confirm before proceeding.

If you need to perform this modification, please give us your address and we will ship the update cable.

These are the steps to update your unit to v1.0.0.0 or v1.1.1.1 and enable future USB updates:

  • 1- Update the keyboard firmware to v2.14 via USB

  • 2a- Update the system firmware to v1.0.0.0 via Software over local network

  • 2b- [Alternate Method] Update the system firmware to v1.1.1.1 using an image file provided by Datavideo

  • 3- Modify the internal USB cable to enable future USB system updates

  • 4- Update the system firmware to v1.2.2.8 and keyboard firmware to v2.26 via USB

  • 5- Update the system firmware to v1.3.3.3 and keyboard firmware to v2.27 via USB

Step 1: Keyboard Firmware

Connect the SE-700 to a PC via a USB A to USB A cable, power it on, Windows will detect it as removable media, delete the .bin file on it, and copy the .bin file from the link below, safely remove the SE-700, then power cycle. Once the unit fully reboots, power cycle again.

Step 2a: System Firmware v1.0.0.0

Here is a link to the SE-700 software, version 1.0.0.0:
Dropbox Link to firmware file

Your SE-700 is likely configured with DHCP enabled by default

Step 2b: System Firmware v1.1.1.1 (Alternate Method)

If you have issues connecting to your SE-700 over the network, contact Datavideo Support requesting a system image

To re-flash the unit, open the top cover and remove the SD card inside.

Connect it to a PC and run Win32DiskImager.

I included a copy of Win32DiskImager in the below link:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/yffdnqkzcc9qnab/Win32DiskImager-0.9.5-install.zip?dl=0

-Select the image, make sure the SD card is the "Device", and click "Write".

When you put the card back in the 700, it should boot with factory defaults and the latest firmware.

-The PGM and PST row buttons will eventually turn red or green one by one

-Then all keys will flash between blue and red/green

-Some units may not go through the previous two steps, this is not an error, you can proceed to the next section if it boots fully

-Power down, wait 5 seconds, then power on

-Each key will briefly turn on and off throughout the entire keyboard

-Some units may not go through the previous step, this is not an error, you can proceed to the next section if it boots fully

When finished, the unit will boot and function as normal.

-Press menu, go to the Setup tab, FW version should read 1.1.1.1 in that menu window
-If not, please contact us for further assistance

Step 3: USB Cable Modification

Please provide a shipping address and we will mail the cable to you free of charge. Then follow the installation steps in the below guide:
