Tell me how to Stream with the NVS-33, HS-1300, HS-1600T and HS-3200

New to Streaming?  Tell me what to do, I just want to stream!

No Fluff, straight to the point streaming setup with the NVS-33, HS-1300, HS-1600T, HS-3200.

Connect your video source to your encoder

a.     Camera

b.     Switcher

c.     Player or other device

d.     For streaming, preferred resolution would be progressive scan, 720P or 1080P (720p streaming is preferred for most streaming)

2.     Connect your encoder to power and to your network with a network cable (internet)

a.     Most modern cable modems have routers built-in

b.     Connect one end of the network cable to the encoder and the other end to an available port on your router.

3.     Use a computer or tablet to connect to the same network as the encoder and router.

a.     If you are not in the same network it will be difficult to locate the encoder for setup.  (Some churches, schools, etc., have multiple subnets, when in doubt ask your in house IT or Tech)

b.     A wired connection to the network is preferred, if not you can use wireless.  Keep in mind sometimes WiFi is isolated to a sub network, which will not help you find the decoder on the network. (Make it easy use a cable if possible)

1.     Check the speed of your internet connection

a.     Open your web browser, such as Chrome, Firefox, Edge or similar.

b.     Go to Speedtest.net

c.     Click Go

d.     A speed test will begin, once it finishes a “peak” average upload will be displayed.  Make sure your upload speed is at least 2.5 times the target bitrate, so you need at least a 5Mbps Upload speed for a basic target stream data rate of 2Mbps for Facebook or YouTube.  (This is assuming a dedicated line for streaming, if not then look into QoS for your router, see the Tech Corner video for more information)

1.     Locate the IP address of the encoder on your network

a.     Windows Users: Use the Datavideo IP finder  application

                                               i.     Once you download the IP finder, extract it from the zip folder. (Save the file to your desktop make it easy to find.)

ii.     Double-click it to run it

iii.     Once it is open click, SCAN to locate the encoder (See Image below)

iv.     When the encoder is found, note the IP address.  Double-click the IP within the finder and it will open your default browser to direct you to the login page. (If it doesn’t find the encoder run it again, sometimes it takes two scans to locate the encoder)

b.     Mac Users:  Use LanScan  available on the Mac App Store (Free basic version)

c.     On the bottom of your encoder, there is a mac address label which is an identifier of the box on your network.

d.     Once you locate the matching MAC address, you can then open a browser like Safari and type in the IP to get to the encoder login page.

e.     By default the encoder is set to obtain an IP address from the router, if not then you can try a direct default address of 192.168.1.60

2.     Login to your Datavideo encoder

a.     At this point, should be at the login page

b.     The default login is as follows:  User name: admin  Password:  000000

3.     Configure the basic stream settings in the encoder

a.     Make sure press “Apply” after make configuration changes

4.     Login to Facebook Live or YouTube to obtain the stream URL and Stream Key

a.     Login to Live Producer on Facebook :

                                               i.     If you don’t want the stream key to change, please select “Persistent Stream Key”

b.     Login to YouTube Live Control Room :

                                               i.     If you don’t want the stream key to change, please select “Persistent Stream Key”

5.     Enter the Stream URL and Stream Key from your provider such as Facebook or YouTube into the encoder. (See Example from the NVS-33, “Operation Mode” tab)

6.     Go Live with the Facebook Live Producer (Link to How To ) or YouTube Live Control Room (Link to How To )

a.     Make sure the Datavideo encoder is streaming, you should see it in the Facebook or YouTube interface

b.     To enable the stream on Facebook or YouTube press the “GO LIVE BUTTON”
