Customers often purchase a brand new SD card, place it their Datavideo device, press the record button, and don't give it any further thought.  However, without preparation the SD card could become more susceptible to file corruption during or at the end of the recording process. We recommend the following steps to reduce the chances of card corruptions.

  1. A new card should be formatted with a utility such as SD Memory Card Formatter
  2. After formatting the card with the SD Memory card formatting utility, we then recommend placing the card in your corresponding Datavideo product and format the card again in the system interface.  By formatting the card in the recorder or encoder, it will place the correct file structure onto the card.
  3. That's it, now you are ready to begin recording.

To maintain your card(s) in the long term, we recommend periodically formatting your SD cards by repeating the steps above.  A good rule of thumb is to clean up the SD cards at least once per month to maintain a healthy file system on your cards.
