Application of NVS Network Live Encoder and NVD Network Live Decoder

Oct 31 2015

The use of network live broadcasting to convey images has become an essential mode in television operations. Similar to how local television stations transmit image signals to the central system and broadcast them through cable channels, the prevalence of network television has gradually increased with the advancement of the internet and widespread use of mobile phones. However, the transmission model using the original integrated computer system is no longer suitable for the current mobile operations. Therefore, the combination of NVS network live encoder and NVD network live decoder has become the best tool for the transmission of network television and cable television.

The NVS-25 network live encoder is a small and practical tool for network television. It can convert SDI, HDMI, and Composite signals into H.264 network signals, allowing real-time transmission of video messages anywhere through the network. Remote viewing can be achieved by pairing it with the NVD-25 network live decoder, which converts the H.264 network video from NVS-25 into HDMI output, directly connecting to a TV or projector for viewing or storage.

The dimensions of NVS-25 and NVD-25 are only 22x14x4cm (equivalent to 1/2U system size), making them portable for use anywhere or installation in a system cabinet. As converters and receivers for the overall video system, NVS-25 and NVD-25 can be widely applied. Here are some practical application scenarios:

  1. On-site Network Live Broadcasting

On-site events often require multi-camera operations, especially for events like concerts, sports competitions, or conferences, where EFP (Electronic Field Production) multi-camera operations are used. Due to limited space at the venue, most events adopt live broadcasting to reach a larger audience. Network live broadcasting becomes the most commonly used method, allowing viewers to watch in real-time on computers, TVs, or even mobile devices.

The essential tool for network live broadcasting is the network live encoder, which converts live video programs into network video for upload to broadcasting systems like YouTube, IPTV, or self-constructed live broadcasting systems. By connecting the PGM video signal output from EFP multi-camera operations to the NVS-25 network live encoder and transmitting it to platforms like YouTube, viewers can watch in real-time by connecting to the specified URL.

  1. Local Television Signal Transmission

Cable television primarily provides diverse program content through channel systems set up by the central broadcasting station. The source of these programs comes from local television stations in various regions, including local news, documentaries, temple activities, and shopping channels. All programs are broadcast in live mode. It is impractical to send tapes to the central station for broadcasting, making the most straightforward and fastest way to convert them into network signals for transmission to the system.

Previously used equipment required a dedicated computer for system conversion and transmission, occupying a significant amount of space, high cost, and complex operation. The introduction of the NVS-25 network live encoder can replace the transmission equipment used by local television stations. The NVD-25 network live decoder serves as the central broadcasting station, receiving the network video transmitted by NVS-25 from local television stations, decoding it into HDMI video signals for playback on the broadcasting system, and broadcasting it live at scheduled times.

  1. Point-to-Point Video Transmission

The most common application is transmitting video signals in a single-point mode. For example, sending signals directly for on-site events to be recorded by the system, engaging in remote video conferencing, or broadcasting live video for remote speeches—all these involve point-to-point video delivery. The most commonly used method previously was video conferencing, but the image quality was not as clear as that captured by a camera, especially when displayed on a large screen, resulting in a blurry image suitable only for personal use.

The video quality transmitted by NVS-25 and NVD-25 is all in HD video quality, ensuring high resolution. Whether projected on a large screen or displayed elsewhere, the image performance is exceptionally clear.

In addition to convenience, maintaining high-quality video is crucial for remote recording. NVS-25 and NVD-25 can utilize the bandwidth required for network transmission to maintain the highest quality mode. This ensures that recordings made within the live broadcasting system can provide high-quality network video images for future online broadcasting.

The application of online live streaming or internet video transmission is becoming increasingly prevalent, and, naturally, the importance of network encoders is also on the rise. The functionality of the equipment is aimed at achieving three key features: simplicity, convenience, and ease of operation, aligning with the needs of the majority of users.

NVS-25 and NVD-25 are designed specifically with these three crucial points in mind. Compact, practical, and easy to carry, whether it's for frequently moving Electronic Field Production (EFP) multi-camera live streaming or system planning applications, NVS-25 and NVD-25 stand out as the optimal tools for network live broadcasting.
