PTC-120 Product Applications

Jun 20 2014

The PTC-120 is a PTZ camera designed for monitoring systems, medical applications, and large formal conferences. It rivals SONY's BRC series products in functionality, utilizing a million-pixel CMOS sensing technology and featuring a 20x optical zoom as well as 12x digital zoom. PTZ stands for Pan, Tilt, and Zoom in English, and the distinctive feature of PTZ cameras is that users can control the horizontal (left/right) and vertical (up/down) movements of the camera lens, as well as zooming in and out, through RS-232C or RS-422 interfaces. With its high accuracy and wide range of movement, PTZ cameras can precisely capture the scenes or individuals needed by the director.

In large conference settings, directors need to simultaneously capture multiple scenes, making the installation and remote control of multiple cameras a necessary task. The PTC-120 meets the scalability and flexibility requirements of large conference applications. It can be installed on a desktop or ceiling, and with the SONY VISCA communication protocol, up to seven PTC-120 cameras can be daisy-chained for synchronized control, with the ability to specify the actions of individual cameras. The diagram below illustrates a system with seven interconnected PTC-120 cameras.

In addition to connecting and controlling seven PTC-120 cameras through a computer, users can also opt for the RMC-190 remote controller designed by a well-known brand for all PTC series products. This remote controller has a novel appearance and ergonomic design, with buttons tailored to the functional requirements of the PTC series products. As a result, it eliminates many unnecessary hassles and physical cable connections in the overall system architecture.

Comparison table of features between the PTC-120 camera and SONY BRC series:

The diagram below depicts a virtual meeting scenario with a PTZ camera installed at the center of a square table. This represents a desktop installation application for the camera, and it can also be installed on the ceiling. The system setup is simple, with low wiring costs, and it can simultaneously capture high-quality, clear images. Even when placed on a desktop, the PTZ camera can smoothly initiate vertical and horizontal movements of the lens, as well as its zooming function. The second image illustrates the system application connection diagram of the PTZ camera with a switcher. The third image shows the captured scenes from the system setup, successfully completing the task with precision.

Other applications of PTZ cameras include:

• Financial institutions/banks/post offices can use the PTC-120 to monitor ATMs or counters.

• Doctors and nurses working in hospitals/clinics can remotely record and monitor patients' medical conditions and real-time situations with the PTC-120.

• Businesses such as convenience stores, gas stations, parking lots, and hotels can use the PTC-120 for remote monitoring of blind spots and dark areas.

• General users can utilize the PTC-120 to allow parents to see the situation at home when they are away.

• Administrators of residential buildings, commercial buildings, and apartments can use the PTC-120 for security monitoring on various floors.

• Warehouse personnel and factory owners can monitor shipping and production processes through the PTC-120.

• Neighborhood leaders can use the PTC-120 to monitor whether there are any suspicious individuals in the vicinity at any time.

• Government agencies such as the highway department, prisons, and military bases can use the PTC-120 for monitoring important facilities and intersections.

Beyond meeting various functional requirements, the PTC-120 is easy to set up and user-friendly, allowing users to remotely monitor on-site conditions. Due to its compatibility with the VISCA communication protocol, the PTC-120 can also integrate seamlessly with SONY monitoring systems, making it a versatile and highly maneuverable camera.
